TISA 5th graders Rock at the Taos Stick Bridge Engineering Challenge!

The TISA 5th graders won the Efficiency award at the Taos Stick Bridge Engineering Challenge. Congratulations to the Marshmallow Bridge group for building the most efficient bridge. Their efficiency score was 208.889grams per 1 gram. The formula was: Efficiency=ULL/DW. Thanks to Josie, Tehya, Rochelle, Joaquin and Alexander. Congratulations for second place with a score of 194.444 goes out to the Nukes. Thanks to Ryan, Zach, Carlos and David.  The Ella Enchanted team won second place for the most aesthetic bridge! TISA 4th and 5th visit the International Folk Art Museum and Meow Wolf

Last week the 4th and 5th grades took a trip to the International Folk Art Museum. We toured the museum's exhibit, Sacred Realms and learned about spirit houses, religious and cultural art of Asia and previewed the new exhibit called tramp art! We made our own fukusasas which are good luck charms made in Japan at the new year.  We finished our trip with a visit to Meow Wolf and delved into our imagination! Twirl visits TISA Once Again!

Our 4th 5th and 8th graders made amazing fractal art. We will be combining our work together to make a sculpture which will be displayed in the 4th grade classroom in the nest few weeks. Thank you to all the amazing students who worked on this project!

 

TISA 5th grade enjoys learning about Fractals !

On Tuesday, TISA 5th graders were given a lesson about fractals and explored the many concepts using various materials. Next Tuesday we will make art objects using what we learned. Here are some pictoral highlights from our experiences.

Today the 5th grade participated in a tinwork workshop with visiting artist Kim Pollis. They made animal masks of bears, linx, wolves and foxes. Take a look at their work!

Patricia Michaels vists TISA

Last week world famous Patricia Michaels visited TISA and shared her amazing talent with the students. She helped the students create their original wrist bands!
